Let us help you develop the language program you need to help serve the community!
The World Language Initiative-MT's Mission is to make language & culture education available to all Montanans, and that starts with your school, business, or community organization.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What languages do you teach? We offer programming in seven different languages: Spanish, English, Arabic, French, German, Japanese, and Mandarin.
Do you offer Customized Language Classes for professionals? Yes, we offer a range of customizable programming for professionals aiming to gain language proficiency for work-related purposes. Check out thisarticle from the Bozeman Daily Chronicle about the Spanish classes we delivered for local nonprofit HRDC for a glimpse of what these classes can look like.
What other types of Customized Language Classes are available for adults? Learning goals, topics covered and vocabulary learned can be customized according to your organization’s needs. Learner-centered and needs-based, classes can be oriented around any topic of interest. Examples include: customer service/hospitality, social services, health care, housekeeping, hotel management, food and beverage, construction, listening skills, speaking skills, general communication, etc.
What kind of Customized Language Classes do you offer for youth? We offer language classes for youth in public and private schools, both during and after the school day. Youth classes are typically organized based on age/grade band (example, K-2, grades 3-5), although other configurations can be considered and potentially accommodated.
How long are classes? Classes start at 60 minutes in length but can be longer if requested. The number of times per week is completely customizable and dependent upon the goals of the learners and organization. Our more intense classes run 3 hours/week.
How much do classes typically cost? Our current base rate for each hour of customized class is $140/class hour. Additional costs might include time for meeting with your Language Coach to identify goals and tailor classes to your needs and travel time if outside of Bozeman.
What are your class size limits? Class sizes top out at 15 for youth and 15-20 for adults. There isn’t necessarily a minimum but classes have better energy with at least 5 students. These are rules of thumb, so there is flexibility - if you have a need that diverges from this please let us know!
How soon can we get classes going? Our typical programming cycles run as follows: 8 weeks in the fall (October - December) and 12 weeks in the spring (February - May). Requests for fall programming need to be received by September 1; Requests for Spring programming need to be received by January 1 in order to fit seasonal scheduling. We can potentially launch a customized class outside of these windows, but it would be staffing dependent.
